It should read ver=9
The ver parameter refers to the authentication method.

Same problem as this ticket I created four years ago for IMan 4.00:

I created what looks like a valid System Connector to X3, but when I open the X3 connector I get the error "Specified cast is not valid" with no other information. X3 debugging is on, but no file is generated when this error occurs. Additionally, nothing related is logged to Errors.txt.
